Dahlberg has parents from the Kipsigiss tribe, she settled in the Netherlands in 1978 and studied at the Academie Minerva in Groningen from 1997 to 2001. Activities on social media are part of her artistry. She posts her own photos there (including selfies, for which she prefers to use the word otophoto), ‘found’ photos and texts.
Social, aesthetic and political criticism are as self-evident instruments of her working method. Her vital and powerful work (sculptures, installations, collages, photographs and texts) is permeated with sensory, erotic energy.
Characteristic of her work are the art-historical references that she links to her own biography.
She has developed her own visual language, which she interweaves with how she lives and experiences life.
In her photo-collages, she often uses portraits of people from politics and (art) history. Remarkable are the ears of Minnie and Mickey Mouse that she applies (usually with felt pen) on the heads. These ‘ears’ refer both to a traditional African hairstyle and to the Disneyfication of contemporary society.
