Born in 1953 in Crotone, he trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, the city where he still lives and works. His artistic journey is characterized by a study and reflection on the material surface in the environment and space. The year 1994 marks a turning point in Violetta’s artistic activity: the human figure-real characters taken from history or mythology-become the protagonists of the plastic research that proceeds mainly through the use of terracotta. He has exhibited in major group and solo exhibitions: Documenta 7, Kassel; 42nd International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia; Quadriennale di Roma; Prospect Frankfurt. He has held solo exhibitions in Italian and foreign museums and numerous galleries. His works are found in public and private collections. He has installed permanent sculptures in Italy and Japan.
